Dang, I'll bet you're sorry you bought that thing. An unwashable thing in a color that shows the dirt!
They say be careful what you wash it with, but HEY! what could be worse than the stain? Spray-paint the thing if you can't get the stains out. Better yet, get a nice washable slip-cover (some are very attractive) and cover it up.
But if the couch doesn't belong to you? Could you turn the cushions over so the stain doesn't show? I guess the best thing to do is 'fess up.
