how do i clean my laptop screen without scratching it?

I emailed Gateway about this same question recently. They suggested a lightly, lightly damp cloth. Clean only when the computer is off. The cloth should be really soft, like a piece of flannel or microfiber cloth. It worked like a charm for me. I felt kinda silly emailing Gateway though :)

Very carefully
use a clean very soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. Make sure your computer is off. Using alcohol evaporates very quickly and won't harm your electronics! Have done this for years and so has my local computer repair shop.
I bought a cloth at Best Buy for about $5.00 that will clean your computer screen, digital camera screen or eyeglasses & when it gets dirty you can wash it on the gentle cycle.
I use my lens cloths with rubbing alcohol
