how can i get crayon out of a woven carpet? i tried a magic eraser, but didn't work.?

The rug's texture shred the magic eraser. The rug is a very dark tan or light brown and my "darling" two year old decided to use really bright colors. I live an hour and a half from IKEA, where I purchased the rug and don' t want to make that trek again! Will dry cleaning work? How much does it cost to dry clean a 4x6 ft. rug?

Answers:
LOL Magic Eraser only works on hard surfaces. Get an old sheet or pillowcase, waxed paper and a warm iron. Place the sheet over the crayon marks and lay the waxed paper on top of the sheet. Place the iron on top of the paper and allow to sit for a few min. That should melt the wax. Then blot the crayon stain up as it melts. You may have some pigmentation in the rug after you get all the crayon wax out. Try using oxyclean carpet spray found in the laundry section of Wal Mart or K Mart. This may or may not work as oxy products work best on organic materials. If that doesnt work, you can use Bissel Deep Cleaning spray. It is in a blue spray container in the carpet cleaning isle. It got makeup out of my beige carpet. Good luck.

the only suggestion I have (as I do when I get stains on the carpet) is to DRENCH the stain with carpet cleaner, put paper towels over it (and maybe under the drenched spot too, if you choose to try it, since it's woven) After the carpet cleaner has sat for about 5 minutes, dab at it with the cleaner. Perhaps even a cleaner with hydrogen peroxide, (I use Seventh Generation carpet cleaner...)

or even hydrogen peroxide by itself! Or maybe acidic vinegar.

Good luck!

There's a product on the market now called "Spot Shot". It is in a blue and orange can. It works great on everything. Spray it on and if it doesn't instantly go away give it a minute and then dab the stain.
