What things coackroaches hate?
Answers:
Boric acid, I had an ant problem a while back, and while researching, I found that surrounding the perimeter of your house and placing it in cracks and crevices , you can create a barrier that ants and roaches won't cross, or it kills them if they do. I found it at the dollar store, but you can also get it from Wal-Mart, K-mart, or some place like that.

A lot of light. If there are palmetto trees close to your house get rid of them...that's where they breed.
roach baits will do the trick
Geckoes... or similar small lizards.
They love to eat insects, and are house-friendly, clean and attractive.
CLEANLINESS,ANTI-ROACH SPRAYS.BIG BOOTS, as well !
A classic non insecticide is boric acid powder which cockroaches seem oblivious to. When they groom themselves it poisons them. The stuff is messy and Hygroscopic so it will absorb moisture and be hard to clean up. A better solution is Combat brand of roach cups. These work well on the more common German cockroach but may be too small for the larger roaches found in the South, sometimes called Palmetto bugs.

well I know you said no insecticide, but If I were you go get some bombs at lowes or any home improvement store. not the cheep ones either, they don't work as well. get trash bags and duck tape and a place to go for three hours put all box foods in the bags and all eating devices, cooking stuff also example: plates, spoons, cups. make sure the air conditioner is off all fans also.tape up any cracks open all cabinets doors any where in your home they like cool dark places . place 2 bombs in each room in your home leave for 3 hours do not open your door any time during the 3 hours keep it shut. come home and see really how many nasty little friends you have in your home. roach motels don't work. the acid helps a little. but it depends on what kind of roaches you have. if you have German roaches they will hatch baby's with in a matter of 1 month over and over again. they don't even mate the females don't need the males and when they hatch you will have about fifty new little friends and so on. if you have a window unit air conditioner cover the part out side with a trash bag tape it up so no air inside home can get out.
boric acid does work well but if there is any water they can get to in your kitchen they will just keep coming back and i mean just a little water like dripping in the sink etc...they hate starving so clean up every crumb, make sure every food source they can get to is closed up.
Boric acid. It can be purchased as a white powder that looks similar to baking soda. It is an extremely mild acid that is safe around children and pets. The roaches hate it, though. Sprinkle it in nooks, crannines, corners, and behind appliances, anywhere the nasty roaches lurk. This is completely safe, and effective for a mild infestation. However, if you've got roaches everywhere, it probably won't take care of them all.
Boric acid or cayenne pepper.
Lights......they always scurry off when they see it. Also do not stamp on them as you will get the eggs on the underside of your shoe and spread them.
