when is the cheapest time to wash??

In the UK - overnight. I often put my machine on at 1am and the wash finishes between 2.30 and 3am. I either get up to unload it or do it in the morning. Thankfully my machine is so quiet, it makes no difference. I have yet to get a complaint from my neighbours anyway! :)

During the night, don't know exact hours. It's because less people are using energy and the energy firms are basically overstocked with the stuff.

I have heard the best time to wash and this is from Microsoft money was on Saturday night after 11 pm. That the time when the rates are lower because most people are sleep or just doing little that involves electric current. So the rates are cheaper.
I head that this used to be the case, but I wasn't aware it is still cheaper at certain times...
If you do decide to do it late at night or early in the morning though, please consider any neighbours - the guy in the flat above me frequently has his on at midnight and if I ever meet him I will kill him!
Economy Seven is cheaper electricity, it goes from 11pm to 7am and the easiest way to do this is on a timer switch. Please remember the noise level though especially if you live in a block of flats!
this only applys if you have a dual rate meter ie one with 2 dials then its cheaper between about 11pm and 7am however if your meter only has the one dial it makes no differecne at all. This comes from the old electric heating the power companies let u use it through the night cheaper so u could heat ur water they have now decided to just balance the difference is alot easier dont quote me on all this though lol
