Can anyone assist with removal of mildew from towels.?

My towels are being attacked by mildew. I know the usual soultions of lemon and sun etc but the towels dry outside on the wash line and it does not remove it. I am worried that spores are lodged in the washing machine, and also passing from one towel to the other in the airing cupboard. Does anyone have any knowledge about this. It is getting expensive replacing endless towels.

Thank you in advance!

Hm, the mold is originating from somewhere. Have you emptied your closet to see if there's any hiding in a corner, etc.? If so, Spray some bleach on the spot, let it sit overnight, then clean with soap & water the next morning. (or use a product specifically designed to get rid of mold).
If it's not your closet, then try running an empty washing cycle in your washing machine, using the hottest temp. and adding 3 cups of bleach along with some soap. That will kill any mold in the machine.
I know this sound's silly and you probably do it, make certain your towels are completely dry before putting them away.
As for your present towels, whether they're colored or not, wash them in the hottest temp. alone in your washing machine with your soap and approx. 1/2 c. of bleach, that will remove the mold from them.

The bottom line though, is you have to discover where the mold is coming from, the source and catch it there, otherwise it'll continue to happen. Good luck!

Wash an empty load with 1/2 gallon of bleach in the machine. That should kill any mildew in it.

Are you sure there is nothing else in the house with mildew? It seems strange more towels are getting it but not other clothes. If the machine was guilty I would expect all your clothes to have the problem.I would look around where the towels are used and where they are stored. If in doubt wash down the area with warm water & bleach.

Get new towels!! mold and mildew cause respiratory problems. buy white ones so you can bleach them every time you wash them.
Bleach and if the towels are colored there is bleach for colored clothes. Then in the future do not let wet towels sit around. As soon as you use them hang them up to dry then wash dont just throw them in the hamper. Any way you should always use alittle bleach on towels to kill all the germs.
you can always try running a hot load of water with vinegar. I love vinegar it should give it a clean smell and get rid of the germs
