How do you remove candlewax stains from clothes and carpeting?

The candlewax was from a candle burning off a candlewarmer plate so there was alot of wax that spilled on some clothes (navyblue and black) and the carpet is a dark brown.

Answers:
Wax on Clothing
May cause staining. If in doubt call a professional cleaner .
1. Let the wax harden then remove as much wax as possible.
2. Pour boiling water through the affected area.
3. Repeat as needed.

Wax on Carpet
May cause staining. If in doubt call a professional cleaner.
1. Let wax harden, then break up and remove as much wax as possible.
2. Place paper towels or newspaper on the area.
3. Apply a hot steam iron to melt the wax into the paper. (You can protect
the iron with foil).
4. Repeat as needed.
5. Clean iron before using again.

Other answers:
Put ice cubes into a metal pan. Place it right on top of the candle wax until the wax is frozen solid. With a small hammer, hit the wax to break it up. Pick up the pieces. Then apply dry-cleaning solvent on a clean cloth to remove any leftover residue.

Wait until the wax dries and then you should be able to scrape it off with a butter knife, tweezers, etc. Don't wash the clothes though until its off because it will never come off if you don't. For the carpet you could try some hot water and a washcloth to scrub it out.
cover the wax on the carpet / garmet with an old towel. Use a clothes iron and iron the towelthis reheats the wax and with some effort transfer the hot wax to the towel. The stain if any from the dyes in the candle are another matter...
This dilemma has an easy solution!
Use brown paper, the kind for wrapping packages, place a piece of brown paper over the candle wax and press with a warm iron. The wax will transfer from the carpet to the paper. This technique will also work for gum.
Good Luck!
I'm not too sure about the carpet but for the clothes i would try placing the item in a freezer zip bag and putting it in the freezer for about 2 hours, then take it out and try and peel the wax off as much as possible, if that doesn't work, seek the help of a professional dry cleaners, most times if you know whats on an item they can tell you if they can get it clean or not...but be sure to go to a good one...same advice for the carpet call a good cleaner (stain-masters, i think is what they are called or master clean). Good Luck!!
Brown paper bag and a warm iron is the only solution for candle wax!
