Why are "tea" towels call tea towels instead of dish towels?

Answers:    tea towels are little hand towels for company to dry hand and was usually garlanded with tatting, crochet, etc...
(instead of using a hip bath towel).

dish towels are not made of terry cloth & they had be decorated next to embroidery such as cross stitch.

They were other so pretty. We should go put a bet on to that.
To trick ppl into paying more money
