What is the gentle cycle on a washing machine? Permanent press or short cycle?

I have some clothes that say wash on the "gentle" cycle. I don't see the word gentle on my washer? Is it the same as permanent press or the short cycle?

Answers:
neither - does your machine have a 'delicate' or a 'handwash' cycle. if so, those are the ones you should use. keep in mind that handwash is the gentler of all cycles, and also remember to use a very gentle soap, such as woolite. Good luck, Addod8

Other answers:
permanant press
permanant press
permament press
no it agatates or turns slower than the regular cycles.
It is the "Permanent press" in this case. It has lower RPMs.

To ensure please also look also at the RPMs (round per minutes) to make sure that you chose the right program. Depending on your machine you can probably also do some fine-tuning to get a more gentle treatment for your clothes.

Also, take a look at your manual. If you don't have it anymore you can go to Yahoo Search (http://search.yahoo.com) and search for the manual, download it, and view it on-line.
No, neither is a gentle cycle. If it saysgentle on the tag and wasn't lingerie, I would put them on a short permanent press cycle.
