Any good way to prevent ants from coming into the house?

I Have used this for years, 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap, put it in one of the cheapo ketchup squirt bottles that you can pick up at a dollar store, apply it around baseboards kitchen cabinets anywhere you see the ants, they will pick it up and carry it back to their nest and it will kill them, When you no longer see any signs of the ants vacuum up the remaining Borax and use the rest of the box to do your laundry with...cheap fix and it works

I've heard borax works, or those bait sticks that you mix with hot water. We have our property sprayed quarterly for a reasonable fee. You can try doing it on the cheap yourself with a few cans of heavy duty Raid every month.
The best waty that I have found that worked for me is to treat the outer perimeter of the house with an insectacide. Something to keep in mind, ants are drawn to dampness so if you have had a lot of rain or a damp basement, that might be drawing them in. Alos, make sure that food items especially sweet things are keep put up.
If they've already come in put baby powder from wherever they came in. It throws off the scent their scent

i don't know about keeping them from coming in, but once you find out where the are coming in at, you can buy these little ant traps, just like roach traps, and they stop them very quickly. i had ants all over my kitchen one day. my grandpa told me to get the traps and the ants were gone by that night and never came back.
