What's the best way to remove rust stains from a porcelin toilet?

coca-cola...cure for rust..forget the expensive rust removers. Just saturate an abrasive sponge with coke and scrub the rust stain. The phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done. hope it works for ya...

Product called CLR or LimeAway, though sometimes the stains are deep enough that you can't do any thing. the porcelin layer is getting thinner

Use a pumice stone. Just be careful not to rub too hard so you don't scratch it.I used to work for a maid service and a pumice stone was included in all the cleaning kits just for this problem.

Ok, oddly enough I hear coca-cola scrubbed with tin-foil works.. CLR, AJAX.. Good old fasioned ELBOW grease!
I have found that a pumice stick works best. They sell these at any store, including grocery stores, where other cleaning items are available. If it is light rust, other products that spray on can work, but for harder to remove stains, the pumice stone will work 100% of the time.

Also if you are having troubles with rust you probably have hard water. Get it tested!
Believe it or not there is a product at Big Lots and several other stores called The Works that cleans all rust stains out no matter how long they have been there and it is really cheap, like under a dollar. I now use it once a week and it keeps the bowl clean and white!
I would try Limeaway and another product I have had really good luck with is the Green Can of COMMET. it is a powder form and it works well. Try that and good luck,.
To clean on a regular basis or remover rust, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of Tang Orange Drink mix in the toilet, for rust, sprinkle it directly on the rust, the citric acid in the mix eats away the rust. Sprinkle it on the rust, let it sit anywhere from 20 minutes to overnight. Then wipe with a toilet puff, dip it in the water then clean. Then flush. This will clean for regular cleaner and it will also work as a rust remover!
You can also use a Lemon drink Mix like kool-aid in lemon flavor, sprinkle it in, scrub, then flush. Cleans and removes rust!
