how do you really clean windows without streaks?

Answers:
Windex is fine, but here is a home remedy combine 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar, and less than 1/2 teaspoon of liquid soap or dish detergent (this is important) in a spray bottle. That's all there is to it. (Make sure to label the bottle and keep it out of the reach of children.). Newspapers are okay but can be messy on the hands. My favorite is a old cotton t-shirt or a good microfiber cloth. Be sure to polish the glass dry, leaving glass wet will produce streaks. If you have a really big job use a squeegee and start from the top going horizontally going down towards the window sill being careful to over lap the previous pass over the window. (prevents streaks). Be sure the rubber on the squeegee is good, if the squeegee rubber has dried out this will also leave streaks.

Try making a sink full of dish water using dawn dish soap. Use a regular washcloth to wipe the window, then dry it off with a soft cloth.
I use old ripped up T-shirts. Works wonders.
I use newspaper and wipe till completely dry
is 1-part, WHITE vinegar; 4-parts water into a spray bottle. Spray on windows and wipe off with OLD NEWSPAPER>> My mom taught me this and it REALLY does work; better than anything you can buy! Don't try paper toweling since it leaves streaks AND lint! Thisis also great for cleaning mirrors.
White vinegar and newspaper seems to work better than the Windex. I use it in my vehicles because of the cigarette smoke. It also freshens the air in the vehicles.
The vinegar works great- if you wanna dilute it with water make sure it's distilled for best results. Never tried the newspaper myself but have heard it works. If your windows are really dingy give it a good soap and water wash first, then rinse with the vinegar before wiping dry. Wax on... wax off... have fun. =)
Make sure you always have a dry rag. Dawn and ammonia work real well together:)
By using half vinegar to half water.Put this in a bowl and scrunch up some newspaper.Dip the paper in the bowl and then clean the window.
After you have cleaned one area use another piece of newspaper.Do the same till the window is clean.
Saturate another piece of paper and re wipe the window.Immediately with a dry piece rub till there is no streaks.Make sure the window is dry by using more paper.
REMEMBER THIS DON`T DRY ON A SUNNY DAY AS THE WINDOWS WILL STREAK.
This tip was given to me by my gran and never fails .You will be left with shiny gleaming windows and all your neighbours will be jealous.Happy cleaning!
