Any benefit to washing mattress cover and sheets in long "heavy duty" cycle?

I often use the ridiculously long heavy duty cycle when I wash my mattress cover and sheets in an extra long cycle. Is this really necessary, or will the regular cycle take care of germs, etc.?

I usually wash them every two weeks. I use bleach on the mattress cover, but not on the sheets.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I need to increase the efficiency of my wash days if possible. Thanks!

Answers:
its tedious I know but its a necessity. To get rid of all those darn bed mites and bed bugs- this cycle is required for mattresses esp the thick ones. Then you'll have to dry them at high at that. If you use regular cycle and it doesn't clean enough - when it dries it will smell like vinegar or something worse... pickled something.

I wash them in the short cycle...but i put them in cold water with Ariel all the night and in the morning i put them in the washing for twenty minutes only.
