How do you clean an iron for clothes?
Answers:
Applying baking soda on a damp sponge will remove stains from an iron, make sure iron is cold and unplugged.
Other answers:
A Brillo pad or steel wool should do the job. You could also use a powdered cleanser such as Comet. Rinse the bottom of the iron with clear water and make sure you get all the residue out of the holes for the steam.
Best of luck with it.

I don't know...for sticky residue I use lighter fluid...it works....then be sure to rinse...
For the burn marks...maybe the Mr. Clean magic eraser...that thing is amazing...give it a try.
In the past I have purchased a special iron cleaner. It is in the iron aisle at your super store. I've also seen it at the grocery store. It worked like a charm. The bottom came out squeeky clean and ran over the clothes much smoother. Costwise I think it was less than $2.
I believe you use baking soda on a towel and run the hot iron over it. But I may be wrong on that.
soda water should help
When the iron is cool, scrub it with a wet Brillo pad. Wipe off the soap and dry it. That should do it; it has worked for me.
White Vinager Helps with the deposits.
