I have a Hotpoint clothes washer that will not spin or fill with water. What would cause that?

Is it plugged in and is the water turned on. Check the belt.

MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR JUST BUY A NEW WASHER IT WOULD BE CHEAPER
Control knob/timer is fried.
It could be on the circuit board itself. If you know how to take the top panel off, in back. You should be able to look at the mainboard. See if you see any resistors that look cooked. Could be a lot of things though....just an easy way to check for that one problem.
