How do I prevent so much dust from accumulating in my room (without dusting it, obviously)?

Answers:
Air purifier or one of those expensive room ionizers... supposedly removes dust from the air and smells. Change the filter or clean it off though from time to time.

When was the last time you had the ducts cleaned in your house? It may be your ducts are dirty and anytime the furnace, A/C, or fan is on it just pushing the dirt out of the vents.

hire a maid to clean it!
You really can't eliminate ALL the dust, but you can cut down the amount by changing the filter in your air conditioner and make sure that your windows are sealed well.
Try changing your air filter, or asking your landlord to if you rent. This will help the dust problem, AND any allergies or asthma. Also, if your screens on your windows are filthy, then when you open them, the dust flies in, etc. Get new screens or wash the ones you have. They have great products at home centers now for this kind of thing.
Closing the shades in rooms when your not home. The sun causes a lot of dust.
big plastic bubble around your room!

seriously, close your windows, vacuum often, no pets, sparse furnishings?
Don't shed so much skin!
change the filter furnace with a better one may cost about 9 to 12 bucks, but well worth it, big difference for me, go to home depot check them out sats on the filter how much more dust and dander and pollen it will collect for all the filters, start with that first it will make a differance for you and run the vacum attachmet over you regesters.
put seals around doors and windows. curtain off room.

do not track dirt in from the outside. keep linty clothes out of room.

cover unused furniture with dust covers
I am sorry but this is an impossibility in life. You will always have to dust every so often or you will eventually live in a small hill. It would not be so bad but they will try to level you out and make a parking lot out of you.
And I have heard it leaves marks and kind of hurts too!
