I have a sterling silver ring that's getting dingy. How can I best clean it?

Answers:
toothpaste and a soft cloth

Other answers:
Soak it in a baking soda + water solution for about 30 minutes or longer if you prefer. Then, wash it off with water. Don't forget to rub it with your fingers.

one of the easiest methods is the Oxygen bleach
but really if it is old it will need 2 things doing to it
1) Soaking for about 5 minutes in Sulphuric Acid (NOT to be done unless you are a silversmith (removes the copper depositis from the silver leaving it pure white)
2) Polishing on a Silver polishing wheel

However all is not lost, get some jewelry cleaner from a jewelers (liquid), then also get some jewelers rouge and a cloth and polish it yourself.
Rub-a-dub with toothpaste........
silver polish.....or you can boil it in vinager, it will clean it up good
the more you wear silver the less it gets tarnished. I use sliver polish/cleaner.
i was told "toothpaste mixed with fine salt" rubbed gently with a soft cloth then rinse with hot water (good luck)
bi carb soda and water
