Washing machine - Laundry question?
Answers:
Try CLR or any product that help remove rust and mineral deposits. Run it through without any laundry in it and then run it a few more times with just plain water. It worked on ours. Now we do this about every year as maintenance.

There is a product in the UK called Calgon (I think) and this cleans your whole washing machine.

Baking soda will eliminate the smell. Problem = you'll have to put in a whole big box of it in and run the washer without clothes. You could also try white vinegar in a clothes less load.
try using bleach
I often get this problem with towels... I've found that using a scoop of oxyclean helps to eliminate the odor...
This occurs in areas where there is high humidity. If you live in a humid region, you will have to get the clothes out of the washer asap and into the dryer or this will get musty.
To get rid of the musty smell in clothes... run 1-2 cups of white vinegar in the load instead of laundry soap. It will take the smell out.
Also, just a side note, if you run your towels in the vinegar once a month, they will be very fluffy and nice as this also takes out excess soap that accumulates. Makes, them better than new !!
Run a bleach load. Also if it is very warm it sure will smell the next morning. Rince in cold water too.
baking soda and bleach are both good answers. You have some fungus build up that spreads quickly when you leave the laundry in.
Run a empty load of hot water and use as much bleach as you want to ( i use up to 2 cups) what it sounds like is you have mold in your washer..or you need a dehumidifier in your basement..
I would run 1 or 2 loads of bleach, and a lot of it. Then run the machine once or do a load of whites without adding more bleach to make sure no bleach residue is left in the machine. What happens if you wash clothes earlier so you could remove them right away? Do they still smell? Stupid question but are you using enough detergent or good quality detergent?
we have the same problem, what you are smelling is mildew, drying the load promptly is the only way to solve the problem, also if is is mainlt towels you experience this with, try doing smaller loads, sometimes a large load of towels will take too long to dry, also is your water city water or well water, if it is well water you may need a chlorinator.
Try to hold the water first, morning drain spin and remove the clothes immediately and dry it in the open..
Run an empty load (on largest load setting) with hot water, a box of baking soda, and about a quart of vinegar in it periodically. You may want to "soak" the washer in this solution for several hours or overnight the first time.
Or you could try the hot water mixed with baking soda, and a few cups of bleach. But DO NOT MIX VINEGAR WITH BLEACH. It can cause dangerous noxious fumes. Try either method seperately... but I'd go with the vinegar first.
Good luck!
No clothes and a cupful of white vinegar.
I had the same problem and tried almost everything listed here. The only way I found is to change the laundry immediately and don't let it sit. It is probably a low concentration of sulfur (musty rotten egg smell) in your water that is causing the problem. And If you have a well water try adding a cup of bleach to your well overnight that also will take some of the smell out.
