What might be causing yellowish stains to appear about 30% of the time on my freshly cleaned white laundry??
Answers:
It sounds like you use bleach...
Bleach causes this all the time, especially, if you pour the bleach directly to onto your clothes...
If you continually use bleach, your "whites" will turn yellow eventually...
Other answers:
do you use beach? Sometimes the inside of the washer can just have buildup and it gets on the clothes. Try using ONLY powder detergent. we had a problem with liquid detergent buiding up and seeping out of the little holes inside the washer.

not to be sick, but sperm causes that.

It may be the dryer. When it runs does it squeak? It it does, you have rust build up, and you need a new one. The rust can't be fixed, so save yourself time and money in efforts to fix it. I'd recomend getting it checked out though.
Do you have city or well water? It is possible that it is rust if you have a well. If you do have a well do you have a water softener? Is that in good working condition?
The dryer is too hot for the material, and near burning it! It's not the washer, try to use a lower heat setting with the dryer.
A little Gremlin hangs out on the agitator and pisses on everything.
90% of the time it's IRON in the water.
Go outside and look at your foundation of your home (the lower cement part). If you see big yellow/orange stains..you've got hard water..or water heavy in Iron...
Might be time for a water filter...
does your dryer run on gas or electric. if it runs on gas and the dryer runs while the clothes are dry that turns whites yellow
Is it only the whites? It could be bleach. If it is all laundry it could be rust. Try running the washer with just a cup of white vinegar in it. Then go back to your regular washing routine.
Check what kind of laundry soap you are using, and how much. Also, make sure you perform the extra rinse cycle in cold water, just to knock out any residual soap buildup you may have. When drying, try using a medium heat and stay away from high heat, which will set in stains. Make sure the stains do not appear on the clothing when you remove them from the washer. It may end up being trial and error. Try changing your soap if no have no luck resolving this dilemma.
