Answers: If you have linoleum counter tops, you can't. The grease in the linoleum is turning to goo, purely like the grease that builds up within your exhaust fan. It's segment of the linoleum (say that fast ten times). If you don't own linoleum, then it's probably a buildup from greases contained by the air. Pure alcohol help dissolve it, like it will the black burned on grease on your cooking pan. But it still isn't easy. Grease adjectives cleaners like 409 rob many coats and lots of elbow grease to use. Maybe an grease based paint might stick. (Don't use metal scour pads on your pan with alcohol.)
sounds resembling your problem might be that you have worn bad the protective coating of whatever the counter top things was. Replacing a countertop isn't as unyielding as it might seem. Just be sure to test very supportively before you cut

We want more information about what your counter top is made out of. I would assume it is Formica or some other inexpensive laminate. I would recommend using SimpleGreen cut to 50% beside water. Put surrounded by a spray bottle and spray your counter tops thoroughly. Let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub beside a scrubby sponge and wipe clean.

I like Fantastik for really touch cleaning job....or 409.....but if I were you I would try to repurpose my counter tops next to something.
If the counter tops have a veneer on them you can sometimes merely cut the veneer off and reglue alien on there. Talk to a handyman at Home Depot or Lowes...... and ask for some creative philosophy that would not entail replacing the complete counter top.
You will be surprised at the ideas they come up next to and may even decide to face the job yourself.
