Where is the cheapest place to get high quality wood kitchen cabinets?

We are doing a remodel, and were hoping not to have to replace kitchen cabinets, but now it looks as if we must. But dont want to blow a huge chunk of the budget on cabinets. I would consider Ikea but I think those fall apart.

Cheapest and best: Find an old, old cabinet and refinish it. You get the quality of the way it used to be done, combined with a new look.
if you are real sneaky? your neighbors house
i know from experiance that Amish carpenders make great quality cabinets. both my parents and my in laws both have furniture and cabinets made by amish carpenders, and they are both very satisfied with the quality of work. ive seen many country houses in my area in ohio that have amish cabinets and woodwork that are very good quality.
Don't know your area, but I'm a great believer in recycling. There are lots of retailers out there that sell salvaged construction components, even our local dump has a retail area. Or you can check Craigs list. My sister in New Mexico bought a number of items for the house she is building there from the Habitat for Humanity surplus outlet. Good luck! (Sears are crappy)
