I want to make it look good and i am afraid tha just painting it white will look to plain any ideas ?????

Answers:
do white with a border, or use 2 tones of the same color (ex: blue with a lighter blue sponged over it so you can still see the darker shade

Other answers:
Oak color is a nice color to have the kitchen painted with. Maple is nice too. Depends on your choice.
Paiting the kitchen a lighter color makes it look bigger. I came to know about this from a home staging expert:)

Why not paint it a pastel yellow, blue, or green. A kitchen doesn't have to be white.

I just painted some paneling. I was told to prime it first and then paint it. The home improvement store even tinted my primer. It turned out super! Good luck on your project.
We painted dark panelling in our rec room, but trust me it is a lot of work! First you must sand it lightly and then use a primer, and sand again. Then paint, but it will soak up a lot of paint. Be prepared for a lengthy process to completion. Go with your personal preference, but a light colour would make the kitchen seem more light and airy. Yes, it would make the room appear larger also. Good Luck on your project.
I you paint a part of it aqua blue and and stain the other part to match your paneling. Aqua blue and deep browns are very trendy now.
