Answers: When I started ID school I really have a different idea just about the field. Everyone estimate it is ging to be like a design show on HDTV. It is not! If you choose this profession, you own to be patient and swot and learn and hold your attention, learn almost current trends, art history and modern art, you have to know adjectives the furniture lines, fabrics, stone porcelan tiles, paint, etc, etc, etc, and you hold to keep up beside the trend as you go. Flip trough a magazine eg; Dwell, Interior Design to see if you can read it and see if you are intersted. Pay attantion to the products! You also own to know local codes and regulations, use of materials. I can just be in motion on and on but everything you will learn (hopefuly) at college and on internship / job. I started working contained by the field one year into academy and it kicked my butt! I am a very strong creature but even I had difficulties. Ones you take to know people and take confortible in the area you will be able to fully focus on fun! A lot of fun! You become approaching a living computer who can design while asleep! I do that a lot, I habitually wake up near a design idea that I can utilize contained by a project. If you want creative freedom, work for someone for a year or two to make mistakes and cram from others with no liability after start your own business. You will learn more or less that in institution. I have my own Interior Design firm presently and I truly enjoy it. When you start to work for someone you will carry payed about $15 /hour and you might take promoted later up to $35/hour lattice. If you are really good you might bring $ 35,000 to $ 65,000 net annually. Right immediately I charge $ 135 /hour plus coordination fees ( $ 75/hour) Sometimes I charge / sq ft or percentage of final cost.
If you choose to be an Interior Designer you have easier said than done work fron of you, for me is well worth it! I hope this help! You have abundantly of thinking to do!
