My Daughter, who is 13, painted all four walls, a different color... (yea, I dont go in there, as its gastly to me, but, once she got all her "stuff" in there it isnt "too bad"..)
She has all kinds of "things" hanging from strings, "mobiles" of every type...
I built a shelf around the top of the room, so she could put her trophies that she has won.
She has a disco light, and disco ball, hanging from the ceiling, (yea, a throw back from the 70s :).
Besides all the other anemities, computer, phone, television, and dresser and bed... Oh, posters on the wall too...

I have refinished teen's room through a charity I started years ago. Start with a fresh coat of paint. try to match all of your bedding with curtains. In one corner, put a silk tree with an up lamp at it's base. Create an inexpensive canpoy for over the bed. Place the bed on and angle from one corner of the room. Small table behind it.
screw that first answer! try a butterfly/fairy theme! I'd like that. I've learned that a nice crayola green is a very happy color or a mild yellow is also a cheery color for a bedroom. If you spend a lot of time in there make it a shade that will bring make it feel like you woke up to a gorgious day everyday. I tried a dark blue and gold shade in my room and I am not liking it. I thought it would be relaxing but it isn't.
What are u into.?? Decide what you like and you can design your room for you. My daughter loves the beach and we made her room to look like a beach. We have sand, water and sky. We used that white picket fence you see near the sand dunes and put a beach chair and umbrella in the corner under the light. Light house chair light and fish on the walls. We did a wooded jungle for our son and stapled fabric on the one wall that looked like trees then white material draped on the ceiling with vines. It was really cool...Just use your imagination.
