Do i really have to prime :(...my walls are an off white and the new color will be a olive green.?
Answers:
We painted off white walls a deep color and primed first with grey . If you dont prime, you may need more than 2 coats to cover the walls, so I would recommend it. Also, I love painted ceilings. After you paint the walls, add a bit of white paint to the leftover paint to create a paint that is a few shades lighter. The contrast looks really neat!

If you don't prime all the walls, the green may look different on the primed wall. I would probably not paint the ceiling, as it may make you feel like the room is closing in on you. If you have a dark colour on the walls, you are better with a light colour on the ceiling. Good luck!

Prime or you will put many coats of paint on, plus the primer can be tinted so your new paint will really come out the right color. My room has been painted 3 times because I didn't want to prime.
Primer coat not really necessary. But, you might need 2 coats depending on the quality of your paint. Also, leave the ceiling white. It will contrast your color nicely and add more natural light to the room.
i know you are thinking why bother to prime..... well this is why.... Every time you touch your walls you leave an oil behind your walls are going to be covered with contaminates of all sorts. if you are not the last person who painted you are looking at a whole other issue. using primer ensures that the walls are uniform in color. As for the ceiling i would leave it white......
always paint the ceiling the same color
I would think so............... Because the side of the wall with primer the paint is going to take very well. The other side won't look that same. I would leave the ceiling just a is. It depends what you like. Remember your room will look darker if you paint it all the same. You know what I would do. I would paint one of the walls a lite desert color. That will look neat! But then what about the ceiling hmmmmmmmmm................. LOL LOL
I would suggest priming so you get the true color.
I made the mistake of painting my ceiling the same color as my walls and I hate it. The whole room is a taupey mauve. It looks tacky to me.
We are definitely repainting soon to a nice sage green with a brilliant white ceiling.
should not be priming with wall paint, use an interior primer sealer , yes you have to prime even if alresdy painted. primer creates a bond so that the new coat of paint won't peal off the old one and also seals anything from bleeding thru to new coat. what to paint the ceiling is a matter of personal choice. i hate white ceilings make the room look unfinished. should paint the ceiling a shade or two lighter then the walls for a monochromatic look. don't go to dark, will feel like the ceilings falling.
No you do not need to prime. If you are using a high quality paint, like Benjamin Moore, you will probably need 2 coats. More than 2 for a lesser quality paint.
When looking at the color chip, use the lightest olive green for the ceiling. It will give the room a softer look rather than a stark white ceiling. Also, paint your ceiling first.
Good Luck!
You do not have to prime the walls, what is your trim color? If white, I would suggest you use white on celing - plus you might want to try molding too. It'll give your room a great update.
