Can you paint an area rug and what kind of paint would you use?

Yes with an acrylic paint. My firend's relative on the vinyard paints canvas floor coverings intended for foot traffic and each time I visit my friend I cannot get myself to walk on it until she insists that I do. They're beautiful and durable. Good luck!

if you really want to paint an area rug it depends on the material that it is made out of....if it cotton or any type of clothe like that you will need fabric paint. if you go to any craft store and tell them the type of rug that you have and that you want to paint it they can help you in finding the right type of paint for the job....good luck.
you can, but in a lot of cases it doesn't work as smooth as we want it too, LOL.
you can use some fabric paint, but of course depending on the rug depends on the effect you'll get.
Depending on the fabric that it may consist of I would suggest that you consider a dye.. and then your able to choose your favorite color. And then after a year or two again your able to
change the color once again.
