How large should a hulking mirror be on the wall?

I am putting it above my sofa in my living room.


Answers:    I would read out just above the sofa so that it will "project" as much of the rest of the room to anyone coming into the room- making it come across larger. Just make sure it is above anyone's lead that might rest against the wall.
As low as possible over sofa for utility.
