wallpaper or paint ?

redecorating small 1 bedroom condo.wallpaper or paint ??...unit is very bright...want to dull it down a bit,,dark colors ?

Answers:
If wallpaper is put up properly, it is not difficult to take down. Most problems occur because the wall underneath was not primed or people used the wrong adherent.

If you have smooth walls, with little or no imperfections, paint works well. Otherwise, a textured wallpaper can hide a multitude of wall problems that paint can't.

And wallpaper has never been considered tacky, except by those who don't know how to choose it. The popularity of paint these days is related to its low cost, ease of application, and lots of home improvement shows on TV where they have to redo a room in two days -- not something you'll likely do if you're hanging paper.

Paint definitely. Wallpaper is tacky and can be difficult to remove

If you paper it, that makes for more work, if you decide to paint it later, if you don't like the paper.
paint, if u don't like it, u can paint over it
Combine them to your likings. Enjoy!
I would choose paint. Wallpaper is terrible to take off the walls even if you have put it up via directions. Trust me on this one, we have been scraping off wallpaper for weeks. You can easily repaint a wall to re-decorate! if you do go with a darker color of paint, remember that it will make the room look smaller and also you will have to use several coats of paint as opposed to the lighter colors.
Depends on your personal preferences and how much effort you want to make in decorating. To do a good paint job, you should first sand, then primer, and then paint. That takes about 1-2 days, but it also depends on how big the room is. Wallpaper takes a lot more effort. First, you have to buy a special kind of glue, (unless the wallpaper has an adhesive on the back,) Then you have to cut it the right size, and last you have to put it just right so that it will align with the other piece of wallpaper. Also, if you like to hang pictures alot, then the nails will punch holes through the wallpaper, and that will eventually make the room look shabby. If you hammer nails through paint, all you have to do is put some painter's putty and paint over and it will look as good as new.
I would say to use a flat paint unless you want to be able to wash it. Then you will need to use a satin paint. Wallpaper is hard to hang and to remove. You might could use just a border.
Paint ...

I would consider Velvet (cloth) though ...
Paint

Color? Choose what you like. Try an earth tone, like a light brown, beige, taupe. Something like that.

It may afford you more matching options than say dark blue, green etc.
i am going to school for interior design and i can tell you this wallpaper isnt really it anymore. i would do maybe some kind of faux finish. you can pick up books at the home depot to explain how to do them. it looks much nicer and it isnt hard to do and will tone it down also. good luck
Painting is better for resale. Wallpaper is gorgeous but your own taste. Have you ever stripped wallpaper? It is not fun!
