What do you use when sanding indoors to ensure sawdust does not fill house?
Answers:
A dustless sander. It is a vacuum that connects to a sander. Here are some pics of them

windows. or just sand outdoors
At one place, they sealed off the other rooms. Taped plastic tarps around entranceways to other rooms.
get a black and decker electric sander with the bag attatchment.
there are some electric sanders you can buy that have a connected mini-vacuum attached with a small collection bag. I would imagine that this is the best option.
the window is a good idea, but put a fan in it blowing outwards, or you can do like a hairsalon, and attach a vacuum to the sander
sheets or plastic sheeting over the doorways or cutting a room in 1/2 so the dust doesnt go throughout your whole house
Box fan with furnace filter strapped to it in the window or doorway.
My wife has a rule: No sanding or sawing in the house.
Tape door ways off with plastic...
tape off all entryways with plastic, turn off furnace/air conditioner, place fan in one window exhausting air and crack a window on other side of room opposite side of fan, cover all registers, and towels under doors.
hang sheets or something of that matter in order to contain the dust. and turn off your A/C. that way the dust only stays in one room of the house and it doesnt blow around as much.
All of the above suggestions are good, however, if you have central heat/air you should make sure it's off before you begin. If you don't, the dust will be sucked into the returns, and get blown into every room in the house!
All I can tell you it good luck dude! We put plast iver the doorways to the rooms to be sanded and taped them, vacuumed as we sanded, and I was still finding sheetrock dust in my closets and other rooms for weeks. It's a messy job, but if it's sheetrock, it has to be done indoors. If it's something you can do outside, I would recommend you do that!
