Try this!
GEt a really basic bed and furniture. This puts the focus on special pieces you can throw in there.
Get some cds. Glue the cds to some wood (or right to the wall) for a sparkly cool headboard.
Cut out music notes from some clear plastic, or plexiglass or something similar. Hang them in the room on the ceiling.
Paint the room a neutral colour, maybe beige. Then for a border, you can paint music lines and notes.
Check yard sales for instruments. I bought my son his second guitar last week for $10! Then I hung it on the wall in a hook so he can take it down and use it, but it is really nice lokoing wall art while it's hung up!
( hes only 4 and is learning guitar).
Use bedding with music notes on it. If you cant find any, make it! You can get iron on transfer paper at craft stores. Print musical stuff onto the transfer paper, then irom onto some basic bedding-- voila, custom bedding!
Get a small stereo (about $15 from WalMart) to put in there. GEt suitable cds. I like to play classical music through the night for my son, he sleeps better with some soft Bach in the background. Or, he also likes listening to nature sound cds as he falls asleep.
Paint out one wall or closet doors with chalkboard paint, Supply a brush, and chalk-- hours of entertainment with a chalkboard!
Good luck!
Other answers:
paint it blue and get him toys and books
paint it blue and get him toys and books
u could write him a song on one wall and paint or decopaughe pictures of drums and other musical instruments on the other walls
do a music theme and have your son put his input in
It could be a good mom and son project and he is learning thongs at the same time.
u should get him a steroeo for the room then he can rock on
repaint the walls blue or something and if hes into music then let him put posters on the wall, my parents were always against me hanging things on the wall and it pissed me off to no end, i can guarantee that if you let him do that he will not only think youre wicked cool but also the room will really be "his"
yellow is neutral enough but get rid of the flowers... kites and birds are things to take his mind on adventures A 4 year old can have fun with in his imagination with those kinds of things.
If you don't want to re decorate why not get loads of posters, you could go and get some together and decorate the room with the posters. Kids change their interests so quickly that if you decorate it all in one theme you may find in a few months he's into something else.
Paint it red, blue or green and have one wall with a musical theme to it.
First, I would get rid of the bright yellow and perhaps paint it more pastel in his favourite color. You can put in shelves with toy minis of favourite instruments, make one wall that has pictures of his favourite instruments as well. I think you can get fabric to make accent pieces (or purchase them) such as pillows and blankets in the musical theme and provide a small table and chairs ~ if the room provides enough space. You can pick up this at a garage sale and paint them yourself or you can check out the children's dept. in stores, or children's speciality stores (these can be expensive though). Put in shelves or storage cupboard with shelves that he can put in his favourite things. I found that my grandchildren loved to have an easel to paint and be creative with. If he likes music, he might like drawing musical things here.
You can put musical instruments and music books out for him to check out when he comes to visit.
Other toys can be put in the cupboard with shelves.
Check out paint and wallpaper places for children's colours and for what they call 'wallies'.
