I suggest you use your imagination. Check some of the websites which sell floor lamps such as pottery barn, home depot, Costco.
Have a look at what they offer and try to imagine what would this lamp look in your room, given all the colors and elements you mentioned.
A floor lamp takes less space and lights more area. Obviously, also cheaper as you don't have to buy an end table. A modern metal finish (chrome) fits with almost most styles.
