How just about slate floors surrounded by the kitchen?

Pros and cons please. I love the look, but need more info. Also, here is a manufactured "slate" that's a little bit softer. Do you know anything going on for this?

Answers:    Hello Denmark1

Slate can look excellent when installed correctly, it's slightly less cold than earthen tile, but it's also much softer.

Slate is made up of several layers, and if you plan on doing the project yourself, it's celebrated to have a right wet saw to cut the slate, because the slate have a tendency to break apart when trying to cut it.

To stroll upon it, is a bit harder than lets speak a flat ceramic tile, especially if you hold some layers missing. But principally I think it's an excellent choice to enhance a kitchen and looks great when installed correctly.

Be sure you apply sealant prior to the grout, the slate is pourous and the grout will be engaged, it will be almost impossible to remove the grout if you do not apply the sealant first.

I desire you luck, and hope this information shall be of benefit to you.

PS slate will add more merit to your home than ceramic tile.
