I am converting an extra room into a hangout room, but i necessitate planning for colors, lounging, ruche...ect.?
Answers: This sounds resembling a good project. Faux sculpture will answer many of your problems and you can tailor it to hold a couple of contrasting colors so your color matches do not own to be exact. There is a great book. 1200 Paint Effects for the Home Decorator by Ray Bradshaw. It has hundreds of paint swatches and recommend color combinations and painting technique. I used this book to do two accent walls contained by my home and I can't believe that "I" actually did it. It looks in recent times great and I have have many compliments. People in reality walk up and touch the wall, asking where on earth I bought the "Wall Paper" It looks that good. The great piece is that it was really unforced and took less that 2 hours per wall. Without drying time between coats as you would expect.
Now if you want it cheaper and easier try using fabrics. you can buy really cheap cotton tapestry's for almost nil and they have great colors and pattern. cover one whole wall and after work around it. Bean bag chairs are other comfortable. Try your local Good Will or check to see if there is an Auction house in close proximity you. You will be amazed at what you can find for very little money. Have fun.
I would paint the walls "luxe blue" by Sherwin Williams, and next do stencils over top in "netsuke" & "red fjord." Here are some cool stencils:
