are carpets good for the flooring..?? specially during the rains??

Well I don't have carpet in the house. It stays really dirty. I'm sweeping at least three times a day. Between kids and pets they track in alot of dirt. Carpet helps to keep down on cold floors in the winter. As far as the rain part goes. Both of my sister-in-laws ask that everyone remove their shoes before taking one step onto the carpet. Regardless of weather outside. When it rains, the front door is where most of the water is left to soak in. Then you have the risk of mold. Removing shoes really helps too prolong the life of the carpet. Have you ever seen some carpet where it almost looks like a pathway through the carpet where people have just been walking over the years. Shoes do that. Bare feet and socks keep that down.
