any idea how to remove adhesive without nasty chemicals?

i just pulled up a laminate floor for the wood floor beneath it and the adhesive stayed put. It's a really bad, gummy, grayish glue...does anyone have any experience getting this stuff off?

Answers:
Get in touch with a manufacturer of the stuff.
Find a can at a store or go on-line, find someone who makes this type of stuff, and they should know how to get it off.
Another alternative is to contact a local handyman or flooring contractor to see what they can tell you.
Good luck!

I find rubbing it with petrol works well. Just don't light a match.
Rubbing Alcohol works the best for me.
salvoplast is not nasty nor is goo-b-gone, safe on paint too
Goo gone is good but does have mild chemical. Not strong smelling doesn't require use of gloves...Read carefully may take off some finish, but if your going to redo the floor won't matter. but it is the mildest that I know of. If you soak it off can warp floor unless the have been polyurethaned heavy. Shiny clear gloss finish. :-)
dish washing liquid straight out of the bottle and a little elbow grease .
