It is important that the color in the different rooms around the house come together logically. Analyze each of the tones; determine which colors, and in what proportions, they complement each other to give the final result.

Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing room colors:

1 Brighten up the darker spaces by painting the walls in pale colors.

2 If you paint a high ceiling a dark color, will make it look lower.

3 A light blue or a gray make a small room seem wider.

4 Use the wall colors to mark off areas according to actives.

5 Red and reddish tones are bold, exciting colors which stimulate movement. They are especially suitable for work areas.

6 Yellows are warm, bright colors, ideal for dark spaces to make us feel cozy.

7 Green is essentially linked to life; it reminds us of nature and is perfect for interiors we want to connect with outside.

8 Blues are fresh, harmonious, and easy to combine. They remind us of vast extensions of sea and sky.

9 To make a room more radiant, you can paint the walls in light colors and introduce dashes of color through the furniture, complements, and ornaments.

10 Neutral colors like beiges and browns combine well with other tones and give the room a natural feel.
Color is clearly the most visible linking factor between separate rooms and is ideal for giving consistency to the decoration scheme of a whole house.

I think it looks great when you paint one wall a really bright color (my fav is red) and leave the rest a nuetral tan or white. that lets you put up that bright color with curtains and everything else without having it close in the room

My personal favorite is cheerful red with white and/or yellow. It really brightens up the place, if the red isn't too overbearing.
(Then you could add touches of green here and there, too.)
I had my kitchen painted in a great green-Artichoke by Sherwin Williams.
It looks cozy, but fresh and I like how it reflects light- morning or night.
You should have fun doing your kitchen in a color that YOU love!
go with a fruits or veggies theme. or corridinate the colors with the colors of your appliances
I have my kitchen decorated in a coffee, espresso theme. The walls are medium sage green and all the furniture and cabinets are walnut. The floor is slate and the countertop is dark green marble. The appliances and fixtures are brushed steel. It's very warm and modern at the same time.
I have a topiary theme.
My walls and counter tops are beige and the cabinets and furniture are white. My curtains are beige and sage with little topiarys on them.
Paprika - bright & cheery
Use yellow (a creamy buttery shade) and accent with red. It's cheerful and a little "off beat". My old kitchen was blue and white with yellow accents and it didn't have a warm, cozy feel to it. The red accents will warm it up. I used "Newborn" a color by Glidden which is very pretty, cheerful but still warm and cozy too.
I saw this decorating show where they redid a kitchen in red and black and it looked so modern and fab. I've decided to do mine in the same colors! Everyone has green, red or yellow in the kitchen, which is blah. I'd rather be bold than boring.
I would go with a color thats in the floor or in the cabinet colors. Or get some colors out of a curtain or a picuture you plan to use in the room.
I would go with taupe and black. A real good color scheme that you can find lots of things to match.
