Whatever happened to shag carpet?
Answers:
Yes.....listen to Mojo who owns no sofa in his living room and entertains on a bear skin rug in front of his fireplace. *cough*
But to answer your question. Shag is still around.....its just no longer called shag.....and the yarn ties are not so wide. In addition, the gorgeous colors of harvest gold, olive green, and rusty brown have been replaced by splashes of tweed. (much more subtle) As far as rug burns? I will defer that portion of the answer to mr. experience up there. What say you Mojo??

I love shag carpet. Im sure you can still find it.
Shag Carpet? Yeah, I know shag. He's selling insurance in Topeka, Kansas and is a single father just trying to make it. Funny thing about him. I was real worried about him for awhile. He was on drugs and his ole lady had ran off with a Canadian truck driver with big ears and a beard. But he's ok now.
I think it went the way of bell bottoms--thank god! lol
thank the good Lord that shag carpet went out with bellbottom pants and perms for guys.
yes it went out of style. and none too soon in my opinion.
i had a bright orange shag carpet in my first apartment. at the time it was cool. now when i see pictures of it i get sick.
i don't know about getting bad burns from it. yes, i know what you're talking about. i tried never to get THAT close to it. the stuff was nasty--you could never get the stuff clean.
hey, i'm a clean freak. i vacuumed the carpet daily. my wife says i'm not a clean freak----just obsessive compulsive---anal retentive-----anal----you name it. anyway, the carpet was always dirty despite my daily vacuuming. i rented a rug doctor and attacked the nasty orange shag with it--the water that came out was black---i guess that was the first time it had ever been shampooed.
believe me----you DON'T want shag carpeting to make a comeback!
nasty nasty nasty
People stopped shaggin' on it cause it gave them "rug burns".
i took it all
