Paint the basecoat on first usually a grey color to simulate the mortar joints, I used 1/2 inch painters tape to tape off 12 inch square tiles, then chose a red brick color for the tile squares. Use good concrete paint, allow plenty of dry time between the grey color and the color choice for the tile. Apply a good poly sealer in several coats. I used this process to do a 12x16 enclosed porch and it worked great, use throw rugs for high traffic areas and it will hold up pretty good. Good quality paint is the key like an epxoy paint, Lowes carries it. Good Luck and be patient when doing this it takes some time but end results are good.

1/4 inch painters tape, laid straight, at a size you choose lay the cross lines, then roll the finish. You could add some texture or even faux finish after.
Certainly you should use a quality concrete paint, but still should clear coat it fo abrasions that will naturally happen

First use paint for concrete or concrete stain,clean the area well and let dry thoroughly.Paint a base coat in the color you want the grout lines to be.Let dry thoroughly.Use thin painters tape to mark out your tile lines.Paint over with the color you want your bricks to be.Use a sea sponge for texture.Mine looked really good.Everyone thought it was real brick from a distance.
All good suggestions BUT, before applying anything to the floor test for Hydrostatic Vapor. (tests available at finer flooring stores. Commonly referred toas a Calcium Chloride test). If you have more than 3 lbs of vapor pressure, your paint will eventually bubble. If less than 3, etch the concrete to open pours for paint to bond to.
I read this technique in a magazine and plan to do the front porch using it.
1. Paint your base coat, which will be the color of the "grout". Use several coats to give project a good base.
2. Using sturdy cardboard (they used a pizza box) cut to the size of tile you want to simulate.
3. Cover cardboard w/foam to creat a "stamp".
4. Select three complimentary colors and place "stamp" in one, then swirl the other two across the face of the "stamp".
5. "Stamp" your floor. Begin using a center point and work out from there. The small variations in color and placement will give the flooring a very authentic look.
6. Let dry and apply a clear finish.
