Is it normal for refrigerator door to open from right to left towards the hall?

You can enter my kitchen from the left and right. When I enter my kitchen from the hall, and face the fridge, the handle is on the right, and opens to the left(towards the hall), is that correct? Seems awkward. I've always opened refrigerator doors from left to right. A friend says the fridge should always open towards inside of kitchen. If so, I guess the fridge is correct.

Answers:
Switch the handle if it bothers you. I had the same problem at my old place and didn't know you could take the handle and hinges off and switch the way the door swung open. I used it that way for almost 5 years thinking how inconvenient it was until my now husband said, "How come you use the fridge this way?" He fixed it and that little change made life SO much easier!

You can usually choose which side the door opens from. You can make it open from the other side if you re adjust it. Though I'm not sure if the older ones are like that. Mine is.

Refrigerator doors can be mounted to open either way. Mount the door to open whichever way you like best. Sould require only removing and reinstalling a couple of screws.
Refrigerators can open to either side, it all depends on your kitchen and the space available. When you are used to seeing and operating the fridge door one way for a while, everything else seems weird till you get used to it.
But to answer the question asked . . . yes, it is "correct" for the door to open towards the inside of the kitchen. You can do it any way you want, of course. It's your fridge.

But it you think about it, it's gonna be pretty awkward if you flip the door so it opens the other way. You'd have to go to the far side of the fridge to open the door, then the open door will be between you and your work space. Unless you are planning to use the contents of the fridge most often in other rooms (not the kitchen), this means that as your remove contents, the open door will be between you and your destination. Sounds like no big deal, but trust me it would be awkward and in no time at all you'd understand why fridge doors are reversible so you can open them from either direction.
If your lucky, you have a fridge that the door can be changed to open in the direction you prefer. I know they sell them like this.
