What is a good way to deocrate a apt?
Answers:
Consistency of color is the key to any decorating. I don't know if you have a lot of stuff packed into that 900 square feet, or only a few key pieces, but what works for me in small spaces is to start with uncluttered walls.
I like off white, cream, parchment...and then match the window treatments to the wall color to make a completely neutral background. That way your windows don't fight with your artwork. Keep it simple with mini blinds, and maybe some inexpensive tab top curtains on a black wrought-iron type of rod.
I like oriental or patterned rugs in the living room and bedrooms. If you pick a large rug with colors you love [it helps if that neutral wall color is one of them], you have the inspiration for your upholstered and wood furniture. Earth tones are in style everywhere right now...rich retro 1930's colors, with leather and burnished metallic accessories if that's your taste. Pick just two compatible colors from the rug for your main furniture pieces. You can use a third brighter color with more contrast for small accent items.
Add things to your rooms sparingly, and don't be afraid to cover furniture you already own to make it work in the color scheme.
I hope that this helps.

If possible avoid heavy pieces of furniture...or keep it to a minimum. Scout used furniture places, thrift shops, garage sales, or flea markets for items that are unique but practical. Think outside the box...and beyond "four walls". Surround yourself with things you like, things that reflect your interests and tastes...things that have meaning to you.
Be creative in your arrangement. Choose accent colors that tie all of it into something cohesive...fabrics and pillows for example. Peruse some of the various decorator magazines on the market for ideas. Check out books from the library on home decorating...and then add your own touches. This will point you in the right direction. Remember to have fun with it.

go fung-shway? if that is even how ya spell it. And you should do a theme that is something you are interested in, like my old apt had martini theme in the kitchen and I moved it through the apt by using drink theme and colors that coordinated with the pictures i had. ---But have fun and do something different
