I don't have experience with Empire, but I will tell you that if you're installing hardwood floors, make sure they're real hardwood floors, not pergo. Also don't install pre-finished hardwoods.
I work as a real estate agent and you can spot pergo and pre finished hardwoods a mile away and they look terrible.
I just had floors installed in a listing of mine and used Red Oak. They look gorgeous.

First off, Empire is good, but believe me they will charge you an arm and a leg. If you go to home depot, menards, etc you can choose your own floor which will be cheaper. Call a local contractor in your phone book( make sure their ad has"can be bonded and a number after it" that just mean they are certified in your state. For a small kitchen if you're using cherry oak floors it can run you from three to four thousand dollars that's including estimation, material and lobor.
