What to do nearly brown panelling? yuck?

We just moved into a unknown house that we are renting, and it has one wall near the ugliest 70's panelling ever. The agency won't let us remove it, and so i numeral they probably won't let us paint it any, so i was thinking of cloth........Anyone own any ideas?

Answers:    Here's a relation to a site that explains how to apply fabric to your walls next to liquid starch. It works great, come past its sell-by date easily when you want to remove it, and a spur-of-the-moment wipe with a damp sponge removes the starch when you take it down again. I've done this earlier, and so have several of my friends.

I know how you consistency. I rented places like that too. Can you use some conola grease on them to brighten them up?

Fabric is a good Idea and you can find it on clearance too.

correct luck
I would ask about sculpture it. It would probably help the owners out, since paneling is so dated!

Just be sure to put a primer over it or you will enjoy to paint many, several coats!

You could also go the material route, go to a store that sell fabric and gain the widest width possible. Use small molding to hold it up and covering the hem around the bottom.
The only other point I can think of apart from cloth is using a gelatinous white patterned wallpaper. They put up for sale them at Home Depot/Lowes. They usually have embossing and can be painted. You could remove the paneling, stapel the wallpaper AROUND the paneling (so it doesn't vandalize it), rehang the paneling and then paint it doesn`t matter what color you'd like contained by your decor.

I'd definitely ask if you can paint it though... If not, after you're easiest way to use cloth is to grasp tension wires and swing them at ceiling level and next make long curtain panel to hang them over the wall... It would similar to chic and elegant.
Hi, the first route i would budge down is speaking to the "owners" and not the middle man. If you sell them the benifits of the adaptation and share ideas, they may compromise, after adjectives, improvement can merely add importance to the property.
If you are looking to remove it and they agree you may want to find the age of the house. DId the present owners own it before the panelling be put up? I generally find that regardless of the era, if nearby is panelling, thick embossed or woodchip dissertation, anything that will take the prominence off or cover any discrepencie/s. Get any agreement from the owner surrounded by writing. If nasty things are revealed you didnt put them at hand, so you dont want to take the blame and own to pay for repairs. Could be fine wall, could be small holes you can trademark good or it could be a rotting wall - anything. Then you must fix it via an recognized builder. The landlord will have need of works carried out or a certificate as this is a business consent to for them.
On to the panelling, if they dont want it removed you could go the yard goods route(not my preference) and you would have to want advice from upholsterers etc or what wood is it? is it cheap repulsive thin wood or is it of obedient quality? Can you craft it work as wood? maybe strip it pay for or find a neutral colour. Do you want it to contest the existing walls or go within with the woodwork? Is it a piece, does it have a mantle or surround? can you get it work?
Choices choices. dont mean to complicate things. If you keep hold of the wood make sure you prep it properly. sand it down to smooth next to no jaged edges(detailled sanders are very appropriate.) Where the pannels meet are near gaps? Decorators caulk is suitable for this and you can have it mixed to colour meeting. Fill any holes,(woodfiller) rub filler back to flat blend and Prime (acrylic) . This aswell as a correct sealent will act as a mist coat and allow you to see if you want to 2nd fill. Dont put the primer on gelatinous, filling holes next to paint doesnt work in the longrun. Also remember (this is where on earth a lot of ppl stop up with revolting painted surfaces if they have no knowhow or patience) lay it rotten. Empty your brush of the paint (use a paint kettle) from the brush stock to the end of the bristles hold on to scraping and turning the brush until you are getting hardly any paint out of it. This is your first layer and if you dont clutch your time on the early stages, the rest of the layer will follow suit. EG brush marks - lines. If you put the paint on gelatinous, you need to nick it off. It doesnt obtain absorbed or even itself out. On a length and any stretch of surface use a technically empty brush and if vertical surface stroke the brush from the terrifically bottom up to the top. This will get the excess past its sell-by date and you need to useless brush again. As the paint becomes more of a undernourished sheet layer. Keep lay it off (stroke from bottom to top) but grasp more and more gentle to the point of by a hair`s breadth touching it. It will give a really nice finish. Inbetween coats you could provide it a light rubdown next to a smooth sandpaper and wipe clean. You may stipulation 2 undercoats and 1 top or 1 undercoat and 1 top. Its up to you but be sure to prepare your surface first and ensure its clean previously painting or you return with that lovely GRIT and lumpy effect.
You could line it. It woould probably stick out from the wall unless its panneled ceiling to floor? im guessing the panel meet at a amalgamate or overlap? even the thickest lining thesis cant cover a bump or raise. Id probably do a blue peter and achieve some report binders (triangular lengths of hollow plastic) I would use close to a pva non permanent gum and put these in place to even out the join. I dont know what there approaching so you will have to use your inniative. Flatten out the adjectives area and i would recommend 1600 order lining newspaper. Hang it, caulk your edges and roberts your dads brother - Bobs your uncle. A flat blanc canvas

Hope this help, need anything, messages me

All the best

Marie
If the landlord won;t tolerate you paint over it, then I would buy a plain rough textured stuff and staple it to wall.
