What should I buy for my apartment?

I just got a three bedroom townhouse and I have two roommates... We already have a fridge, microwave, couch, tv's art, and bathroom stuff... but I am wondering what you guys think? What random appliances and items are especially useful and easily forgotten?

Answers:
Hi we're in the military and constantly moving it seems. A few things I always like to buy new when we move are- a new plastic shower curtain liner, new bowl brush, new dish drainer. Since we're always struggling with having enough storage space I like all my furniture to do double duty.

We live in England right now and have no closets so I have several armoires that are both beautiful and functional. Almost every peice of furniture we have is usable for storage in some way or another. I love blanket trunks used as a coffee table- I have one in my living room (used to store photo albums and throw blankets) and at the foot of my bed where I keep all my bed sheets.

Check out your local thrift shop, Goodwill, Salvation Army for lots of bargains on stuff you need but can't afford to pay tons of money for. Best advice is to buy quality wherever you can. Stay away from cheap stuff-if you invest in good pieces now you won't have to replace them in a few years. Best of luck in your new home.

How are you getting your internet there? Do you need a router so all 3 people can be online? I know my favorite appliances are my George Foreman grill and my toaster oven. I also like pillows in the living room in case people come over.

There are lots of things that you will probably find that you want. The first few months of moving out on your own are expensive. You will probably want DVD players/VCRs if you don't have them, a vacuum, a fan or two is always useful, in the kitchen you may want a blender, a mixer, a can opener, a toaster, and a portable dishwasher if you don't have one built in. You'll want glasses, dishes, pots and pans, silverware, measuring cups, food storage containers, cleaning supplies like broom, dust pan, some sort of comet or ajax, bathroom cleaner, window cleaner, etc..., its always nice to have extra light bulbs on hand in case one goes out at a bad time, flashlights in case the power goes out at night... The list goes on and on. Most of the stuff you will realize you need though as you need it. Just be sure to get a few extras of stuff you always run out of (like batteries) so you are not constantly wasting gas to go get more. Hopefully that gave you a few more ideas. Congratulations on your new place and good luck!
toaster, mixer if anyone cooks much, blender if you make drinks, hammer , a small nail kit, screwdriver, small drill, a ladder or step stool so you can reach light bulbs and top cabinets if you are like me. toilet brush, plunger if it gets clogged, ice cube trays, a mixing bowl, pizza pan, simple baking pans, large spoons , a turner for eggs and pancakes.
