What is the easiest and cheapest way to cut glass bottles for decorative purposes?

If you dont want to invest in a bottle cutter at a craft store, Ive done this by clampimg my glass cutter to a bench and clamping a piece of wood a the end of the lenth I want for a guide to get the cut straight , and hold the bottle against the cutter and rotate it all the way around. Then I use a fishing sinker on a piece of line and lighty tap from the inside all the way around untill it breaks . then finish the cut edge with emery cloth till its smooth.
