We are looking to put up backsplash/tiles in the kitchen. Any good products or contractors in Toronto, Can?
Answers:
Go to Canadian Tire, they can hook you up...
Other answers:
Home Depot has lots of hot products & can line you up with an installer as well.
Another good source is to call a few award winning builders in your area & ask for a referral.
I have remodelled a few houses & have built a few.
For small projects such as a backsplash, go to tile stores & ask for samples, part boxes etc. You can get expensive tile cheap or free this way. If there's not enough to do the job, incorporate in an inexpensive field tile.
Another option is back-painted glass. Have the glass cut to fit with bullnose edges & holes in the corners for fasteners. Tape the edges & spray paint one side. Hang on the wall with screws & washers to protect the glass.
A this bead of caulking can be run where the glass meets the counter.
I have also used cork floor tiles on the backsplash. The tiles are sealed on all sides so you don't have to worry about waterproofing. Beautiful organic look.

IT's not difficult to do yourself. Home depot gives classes. The feeling of accomplishment you get everytime you see the finished project is really worth it.
That said - if you want a really good installer, go to showrooms of places that only do tiles. There is an incredibly talented tile installer (he's an artist with tiles of all types) in Cobourg, ON .
