Where's information on remodeling brick fireplaces?

I just want something to cover up the red brick

Answers:
I'm not exactly sure how you want to cover the brick, but there is something called nova brick, there are other names of bricks, like z brick and such, but they are like faces of a brick, you basically mortar them onto the front of the existing bricks. It really looks nice and still gives you the nice finished fireplace.

Good luck!

I had the same problem. I had a large ugly yellow brick fireplace and it was an eyesore. I decided to frame the opening with a green multi colored slate tile. It also had the slate put on step area. My contractor put the slate directly on the brick! Which saved me money in having to prepare the wall to tile it. The rest of the remaining yellow brick I painted with a rich goldish brown to bring out those colors in the slate. It really turned out better the I expected. It is now a beautiful focal point in the room. Good luck!
