Loft and BunkBeds Vs. Regular Beds?

What are the disadvantages and advantages of having a bunkbed or loft bed rather than a regular bed?

Answers:
Bunkbeds...

If you get a good quality mattress and a sturdy bed/frame, they can be comfortable.

Advantages: Space saving, fun for kids

Disadvantages: Top bunk is near the ceiling where it is hottest -- can be very stuffy and uncomfortable for sleeping in winter or summer. Bottom bunk is closer to the floor where it is coolest -- can be cold in winter. Bunkbeds are generally against a wall, which can be restrictive for sleeping. Danger of falling off loft/top bunk even with railings. Danger of falling off ladder. Difficult to make beds. Upper bunk/loft can be difficult to get to due to injury or illness. Sleeping habits of peron on upper bunk can be distrubing to person on lower bunk (i.e, tosses and turns a lot).

A bunk bed takes up less floor space than two single beds in the same room.

for me the advantage was space. with 3 kids and not much room bunk beds was a real space saver.
bunk beds are comfortable, just dont cheap out on the matress, besides they are a real space saver. And who doesn't like a bit more space
Bunk beds are a space saver...however...they are not as comfortable, its harder to make them up in the morning, especially the top one, and if they are for kids...they can be a jungle gym to the kids and they might end up getting hurt. If on the top bunk u have to use the restroom in the middle of the night in the dark, it can be dangerous too. If you have low ceilings, u might bump your head a lot.
Ok now so all do not forget lol. Bunk beds and loft beds are for fun.
Just try to remember how it feels climbing up on a bunk bed.
God a loft bed lol, Got to be the most fantastic bed made for kids lmao.
Not me I am old and I like my water bed lol.
Like everyone has said bunk beds allow for more floor space. I have 2 kids and recently purchased bunk beds, they are great the kids love them, best advice purchase a more comfortable mattress, bunk mattresses are not that cozy. Also, if it is for kids i would purchased the "Bunky boards" or have Home Depot cut more slats. If it is for kids I would go with a wood structure instead of metal, just for the piece of mind. Hope this helps!
