i have a light green color in my living room and i was wondering what color i should paint my kitchen to match
Answers:
Good rule of thumb is that visually, one room should flow into another. There are a few things to consider...color of floor coverings in both, cabinet and countertop colors, etc. There's alot of choices depending on the look you wish to achieve.
Example: My upholstery in the livingroom is a drk sage green tweed with the back cushions in burgandy gold and green striped and scrolled pattern. I have hardwood flooring. The drapes are green, gold and burgandy tapestry and the area rug is the green background with burgandy and gold floral design. I used a deep bronze-gold color on the stucco walls to tie it all together. This room goes directly into the kitchen/dining spaces and can be seen from the livingroom. I simply used the same colors in reverse in those areas. The walls are painted a deep sage green, with the wall behind the dining table and under the kitchen cabinets in a mottled green with gold scrollwork. I even used the same draperies behind the dining table and a remnant made a perfect scarf over the kitchen sink area. The floor in here is slate in shades of browns and greens. In keeping the colors the same, it makes the entire space appear larger than it really is.
Since I really don't know any details other than you've used light green, all I can say is you can do the same with the colors you have. Just pick up the other colors in your livingroom and use them as well. Good luck on your project. Once you get a few details in mind, it goes pretty easy!

clay or light terracotta
clay or light terracotta
a darker green or maybe yellow
How about just a wall paper border in a nice matching pattern? A lot easier than painting.
Why do you want it to match? Think about the feel you want for your kitchen. Bright & sunny ( yellow )? Calm & serene ( blue )? Relaxing ( green )? Clean & streamlined ( white )? Like Denny's ( mauves of all kinds )? You should try looking in decorating magazines/books for other kitchens you like or check out some websites on redecorating and/or colors. Hope this helps.........
I have a light sage green in my living and a dark red in the kitchen and dining....red is supposed to make you hungry. The colors go great together, I just sold my house and EVERYONE that came and looked loved the colors together, and no one wanted to paint it over. Also, try to keep the rest of the house mellow (like a cream), it will make you want to stay in the living and kitchen the most!
