what type drill bit required for porcelin glazed tiles?

Answers:
Ok, I would first put tape on the tile, (so the bit doesnt slide)...

Then I would get a "glass bit" (a spade paddle bit), to "start" the process...

Then, after you have initally broken the glazing, I woudl go over to a concrete bit, and drill through...(providing its a small hole!)...

If its a large hole, do the above process then get a dremel tool and with a grinding bit, start to grind out what you need, to the hole size...

Remember, heat will be your "killing factor", so keep the tile cool at all cost!! Or, it may shatter!

I wish you well..

carbide, known as a masonry bit. Buy the best quality you can.
Use a diamond drill bit, also use plenty of water and use a variable speed drill so that you don't go in full speed and burn up the drill bit.
I bought one to drill holes in my glazed ceramic tiles from Lowes. I don' t remember the brand but it was in a green package and it said it was specifically for ceramic tiles and glass. Only costs about $7. Worked great!
Woodworkingm guy is right. Also You can use a masonary bit but you need to remove the glaze in the spot you want to drill. A small ball stone in a dremel tool or drill will do the job to grind the glaze off. Grinding off the glaze with a ball shaped stone also keeps the drill bit from wandering. Those ball shaped stones only cost around $3 at lowes.
Diamond tip bits.
when you use "porcelain glazed tile" and "drill bit" in the same sentence, you're just asking for trouble. i'm staying away from this one :P
