You could be using the wrong nap for the type of walls you have. Roller covers come with different naps to match the finish or texture on the walls so that you get the right coverage. You do not need to have so much paint on the roller that it is dripping off, either. Paint in a W formation on the walls. But, check with someone in your home improvement store to make certain that the roller cover you have is appropriate for the texture of the wall you are painting. I suspect that is your problem.

Did you prime the wall first? Are you using a dark color? Both could be the reasons for the patchy look. Even if you prime the walls and then paint with a dark color, you may get patches. Don't worry, the solution is simple: Wait for the paint to dry and give it another coat. It's always worked for me!

make sure theres enough paint on the roller.use the roller vertically and horizontally.give it a second coat if still patchy.use sugar soap if painting over previously painted wall(not on wallpaper).if painting on newly plastered walls pva wall first or water down paint for first coat
Use a paint brush instead. Might be your handling of the roller. You may have to apply several coats of paint to get the desired effect. Cheers!
Never use cheap paint or rollers and brushes, you need a longer napped roller to inusre max, coverage, make sure roller is covered but not dripping, and recoat the roller as needed, dont't try to spread the paint too thin or you will have streaks and patches.
pending the type of paint you have it normally requires two to three coats of paint, more so if you are changing the colour, (one-coat paint) DON' t TAKE THE CLAIM AT FACE VALUE. TIP:- apply first coat thinly .very important, leave to dry over-night as paint will require to set before a further coat is applied, again leave over-night before apply another coat if walls are still streaked, keep repeating this proses, PATIENCE is the key to save you hustle & also to prevent yourself discovering that you can sudenly speak aribic! good luck.
p.s insure your walls are free from dust & damp etc.
try a short pile roller sleeve, make sure you have filled any holes, rub down the walls, when rolling try not to roll every drop of paint on your roller do a small area put more paint no your and repeat the process when dry check for any missed defects fill them, sand down, paint over when dry lightly rub down walls apply second coat no more patchy walls good luck. Now i must go and start my walls
You may need to sugar soap down the surfaces before any appication to remove any mildrew or sticky surfaces. You also need to prime the wall first and when applying the paint onto the roller make sure you are doing it evenly and stay in the same direction whilst applying, speckles are usually from applying the paint too fast causing the roller to spin and flick paint onto the surface. A second to third coat may need to applyed.
